Matthias had been wanting to have a talk with Nate since SuperClash, but Nate always seemed to be busy with something else. So by the time the next show was to happen, Matthias found him in the locker room backstage.
"Oh good, you are here."
He grabs a chair and sits it across from Nate, so they are face to face.
"Listen, we need to get some things out in the open. We may be familiar with each other from facing each other a few times, we both have some experience with other people in a tag team. But you and I? It's apparent that at SuoerClash that we have some work to do. We did pretty good, but I have to ask you Nate. Why did you just stand there and let those tag titles slip through your fingers? Is your head in this game, or are you too consumed with your personal life? I'm glad this while thing with the Avenger has seemed to die down, but it seems that you are not as focused as I know you can be. That you are letting your personal life get in the way. So if we are going to be a team, a real good one, I have to know if I can rely on you. That I can trust you and I to both dig our feet in the ground and we can take this all the way to getting some gold. Nate, can we?"

*Nate sat in his chair across from Matthias, he was slouched over, a heavy 5 o'clock shadow grown in under his 'handlebars'; his locker room was littered with beer cans, empty bottles of rum and whiskey, broken shards of glass scattered amongst the floor. Nates hair was a mess and greasy, and he had a somber look on his face as his head laid low.
Nate took another drink of his vice as he stood up from his chair and turned his back to Matthias*
"I am sorry Matthias..."
*He says in a low tone of voice, raising the bottle once again*
"Your right, for months now I haven't been myself. I lost the world title, I lost my father, and I have lost the love of Raiyven..."
*He reeked of booze as he walked around, shoving food from a nearby table*
"Oh sure she says she loves me, but I've seen the look in her eyes! She's lost faith in me, and who can blame her, I'm not a winner anymore...I was an old vet looking for one more shot at glory, to hear the fans chant my name, to strap that gold around my waist...but let's face it Matthias, everyone knows my moves, how to counter, and I'm not the young man I was."
*Nate takes another drink*
"I have no idea what I was doing in that match Matthias, I was drunk out of my mind, I didn't even remember having a fucking match!"
*Nate throws the bottle against the wall, shattering it, as he opens another*

He hadn't noticed initially, but after Nate threw the bottle Matthias saw just what a mess everything was. The locker room, his career, his life. Everything. So when Nate went to open another bottle, Matthias knocked it out of his hand. Somehow the bottle did not break upon impact with the floor.
"So if everything in your life is leaving you, if your career isn't what you want it to be, you just turn to drinking? Tell me Nate since when has alcohol ever solved any of your problems? Do you think that if you drink enough of this filth that suddenly your career will be right back up to what it was? You think that your girlfriend's love will return? No Nate. All it has done, all it ever will do is just make things worse. I told you once that I choose not to drink because I didn't want something like this to happen, and by god I'm not going to let it happen to you."
Before Nate could reach for another bottle, Matthias gets between them and Nate, trying to prevent Nate from getting any more. Sure with his size and strength Nate could push him aside easily, but Matthias was determined to stand his ground.
"Who are you? Cause the man before me isn't the Nate Michaels I knew. The Nate I knew was a wrecking machine, he was able to lift the mountain of a man Cesare, made him tap and handed him his first loss. Is he hiding somewhere, or is he long gone?"
Matthias got as close as he could to Nate's face. Trying to bear the stench of booze.
"Is this really what you want to be? Is this how you want Raiyven to see you?"
Got to bust out the big gun.
"Is this what your father would want?"

"Don't you ever talk about my father!"
*Nate was clearly distrought by what Matthias was saying to him, but he refused to accept any of it, as he opened his last bottle of booze, hard vodka, the kind that puts hair on your chest*
"My career has been great, I've done and won it all, I am goin to be a F**kin hall a famer...and what have you done? Barely able to hold a title more then a week!"
*Nate stumbled as he went for a drink, but again Matthias fought him, the vodka spilling onto the floor, and over Nate. Finally he was able to shove Matthias away but the booze fell to the ground, the bottle cracked and the sweet vodka inside spilled onto the floor. *
"Ya know, I could still take you Matthias, you want to talk about being a team, I been apart of some great teams, and we all won titles. The Avalanche, the Turncoats, Red Alert. Come on Matthias, step into the ring with me and see if you have the skill that my championship partners do. Come on! I f**kin dare you!"
*Nate used the table to support himself*

The comment about not holding a title for a week stung Matthias, but he knew that Nate had to say something after bringing up his father.
"You know what. Fine. I'll face you. But it's interesting that you bring up your former teammates, because look around you. Where are they? Only one I know is Cabal, you guys were suppose to be a team here too, but he left you high and dry to be with the Xaviers and that has served him well. I was hoping when we fought them him being on the opposite side would at least spark something in you, to prove to him that he made a mistake. But as of right now, that's not the case at all."
Sigh.
"I'm not doing this as your tag team partner Nate. I'm doing this as your friend. And if I have to fight you to help you then fine. Maybe during the match you will actually wake up and be the man that I know you can be. The kind of man that deserves Raiyven, not the kind of man of person who gives her up without a fight! I'll let you in on a secret Nate, I'm going to open up to you about something. What you and her have, I've never had. I've never had someone that was worth fighting over. You know the saying 'it is better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all'? I've not, you have. You still are, you haven't lost her. If you continue down this path though you will."
