Hello everyone and welcome to our special Riot & Holiday After-Stream.
I am your host 'Smart' Mark Weiss here to give you the break down of the events that took place at Riot and what this means for Viral Pro moving forward.
The Quality of each Viral Pay Per View continues to increase each month, the wrestlers are continue sly trying to out do each other for match of the night
So this months Riot was a spectacular show. But lets start off with my Weekly Rant!
Now this has been something I've been noticing for a few months now. Occasionally ViralPro will contract 'outsiders' from the independent leagues to appear in matches against Viral Talent. This is all fine and dandy as we seen what can happen at Best in the World. It can make for some exciting TV, especially when some of these outsiders are well known like Kahn and Brent Starr.
But when rather unknown talent shows up and get victories over members on the Viral Roster then that's just not right. In my expert opinion, when this happens the booking staff have a obligation to make the Viral Superstars appear well...super. Now maybe this is a ploy to get these 'outsiders' to come in and work these one time events, and sure it may even lead to contracts,(see Jacob Cass) but many fans don't follow the independent scene and wonder just what is going on. So in conclusion, booking staff, have the matches be close, but in the end; Viral should win.
So onto my Wins and Fails!
1. First win goes to all of Viral Pro's Champions. Sid Reemer, JYNX, Raiyven & Nate Michaels for retaining their respective titles in truly entertain matches.
Sid Reemer seems to be busting out on his own without the help of Arthur York into a successful singles career, having held the X-Rated Title for over a month, and defending it twice. Ill admit I wrote Sid off as a champion but as I watched his match at Riot I came to the realization that he is the perfect fit for that title. Also the defense against Quinn with a Single Leg Boston Crab was just fantastic to watch, he grabbed hold of his leg and didn't let go. Poor Ethan must have forgotten that in X-rated matches there are no rope breaks. What does this mean for Sid going forward? Well he's champ and there are going to be people who want to take that title from him. Hood has said that he hasn't forgotten, so maybe another match with him. Jacob Cass, and Mark Covair are also possibilities if you ask me.
JYNX also proved me wrong at Riot when she defeated Jenna Storm 5 falls to 4 in a 30 minute X-Rated IronVixxen match, and because of that I can't say enough about her. So far she's the only one with a title defense of that belt, and gives it a bit more credibility. Though she almost let it slip through her fingers in the last few minutes when Jenna made her big push, she with stood the onslaught. Now who could step up to the plate? Maybe Brooke since that's her element, but then again another shot from Ashley would be fun to watch.
Now where do I start with the Vixxen's Champ? Raiyven always brings her best when the gold is on the line, and after a personal, heated, and intense feud with Brooke, it all came to end at Riot when she scored 2 straight falls to retain her title. She after 3 matches with Brooke she had her well scouted and managed to counter Brooke's finishing moves at just the right moments in the match, and did what she said she was going to and kick Brooke in the face. I called it in the preshow, a Raiyvens Rest for the win and she didn't disappoint. Nobody has been able to take that belt from her since Infection, and I don't see that changing anytime soon either. She is THE top women in Viral Pro, and the real question is who's left for her to face that's worthy?
Now lastly we have Nate Michaels. Another win and title defense to Nate, although this one had all kinds of weird and exciting things in it. It was as we all expected a very physical match with Cesare, these two just beat the hell out of each other. Cesare put Nate through 2 sides of the Cell, and Nate power bombed Cesare off the top of the Cell through the announce table...that should of stopped the match right their, but her's where it gets weird...Mr. International was the ref in the match...and as soon as Cesare went flying, International put Nate through the top of the cage. Yet both men kept fighting, and in the end Nate is still champ. So Nate has now held that title for nearly 3 months and it looks like the next obvious challenger for the BOTN title is Mr. International to bring their feud to an end. But I do think Nate's time as champ is numbered with all the new fresh talent looking to step up to the plate. I don't know if he can fend them all off, though it would be fun to watch.
2. Win number 2 goes to Benson Dane who not only won the Riot elimination match for the Golden Briefcase, but was the first man in the match. He fought everyone right down till the Hood and even though it took a few SCS to keep him down, when the bell rang he was the one with a Guaranteed title opportunity against any championship he wishes whenever he wishes. Now I personally think he'll wait to cash it in till the first ViralPro Champion is crowned, but then again he has that history with Nate Michaels; and he wants to be the one who knocks Nate off the mountain, so another high pace match between them could be in order. Also I am going to graduate him on the birth of a baby girl. I know you don't hear that much on TV, but off camera, everyone is very happy for him.
3. Last win goes to the Table match that kicked off Riot, which could be match of the night between the Bronx Bullies and Chi Town Killas. In this match alone they went through nearly 10! Tables. Missed high flying attempts, table legs giving out without breaking, people going through barriers, this was an all out war between these teams, and the only thing that would have made this match better would be if there were tag team titles up for grabs!
Now speaking of tag titles, that leads into my first Fail.
1. Why aren't there tag titles now? ViralPro has a number of teams. Global Warfare (England/International), Sid & Arthur, The Crusade (Hood/Ashe), Grave Mistakes (Grayves/Plott), Chi Town Killas, The Bronx Bullies, and maybe more once those titles get introduced, and that's just for the men. On the women's side we have Lexi & NEON, Ashley M & Kyra, Double J (Jenna/JYNX). So its time management brought them in. Set up a tournament throughout the month and have them fight for it at the PPV.
2. My second fail goes to a tag team. Grave Mistakes. Losing to a pair of outsiders. Granted one of them was a champ, it shouldn't have mattered, and they should have picked up the victory. I think this is a bad move on the writers part because it doesn't make them a credible tag team, though that could change with a few wins. So hopefully a new year brings a winning streak.
3. My last fail goes to the mix tag match between Britain Finest (Jenna/Ethan) and the Viral Power Couple (Nate/Raiyven). It ended in DQ when the ref wouldn't let Raiyven fight Ethan. Well I think that was a poor move, as these are 4 of the best and it would have been a show. But I guess it was the only way to have them win, cause no way would the Power Couple lose a straight up match. But I still don't like the way it ended. But hopefully we get to see pics, especially of Jenna.
Damn that was a lot, and I'm out of breath. I shouldn't of had so much turkey Christmas Day.
So onto the Rest of the Show.
Crusader Ashe picked up a hard earned victory over Jacob Cass, it was a funny end as Cass missed a high flying move and that allowed Ashe to pick up the victory. This gives Ashe 3 in a row since his loss to the Hood. This Crusade has given has the drive he has needed. Smart move to revamp his character and it gives him purpose. Cass had another strong outing but we want to see the one who dazzled us at Best in the World. Hopefully he finds his touch.
So the pairing of Ashley Milano and Kyra had a pair of matches against Double J and Lexi and NEON, winning both of them. This makes them a dangerous tandem, and they even attacked Lexi and NEON backstage as I interviewed International. These ladies mean business and look like they are out to hurt and harm the other ladies in the locker room. So keep an eye on them, I see many good things in store for this team.
So what has been happening around the league?
Not much since it has been the holidays and most of the Viral Staff went home to visit family. But there have been a number of changes at the Viral house, things have been moved around and repairs have been made. But not much to report this week.
Well everyone that is all the time we have for this Riot edition of the After-Stream. Be sure to follow me on Twitter @viralsmartmark.
