Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of the After-Stream! I am your host "Smart" Mark Weiss back at it after being off with the flu. Seems to be going around as a few superstars also came down with it.
So let's dive into it with my Rant of the Week
In recent weeks we see our proud Viral Champions losing there belts a mere week after capturing it. Matthias, England, NEON & Lexi each lost there belts after winning them at Riot...now I have been pondering why this has happened as it makes the titles slightly less crediable, and at first I want to say its bad booking decsions to have the champs lose the belts a week after winning them. But the more I thought about it the more I wondered why they are being tossed into these situations so quickly instead of building up to a ppv? Well I came up with a term for this..."The Nathan Michaels Effect". When Nate won the BOTN title he was willing to defend it night in and out against anyone who wanted a shot. But it was also done to see who would the fans would rally behind. Now he doesn't have the title and these wrestlers are trying to prove that they are on the same level and there is no need of it, they are not Nate and need to crave out there own path. Two of the three belts that switched hands went back to their former title holders. This tells me 2 things. 1: Having achieved their goals the champion realized all the effort they put in and have stopped trying to push themselves so they stopped competeing at that top level. We seen it happen already both Matthias and England suffered a second straight loss and Lexi & NEON weren't even on the card. 2: When they won the titles the fans didn't rally behind them like staff had thought and quickly hit the "undo" button instead of letting them run with the ball. Anyways that's my rant #givethemachance!
So onto +Wins -Fails
1. Nate and Buck. Nate was coming off a bout with the flu and Buck was ripping him a new one on Twitter, and while this match wasn't as techniqually sound as others it ended with a BANG when Nate superplexed Buck from the top rope which COLLASPED the ring! This was huge, and apperently Nate was pissed enough to try and put him through the ring! Some may say Nate 'won' the match since he preformed the move and started getting up first, but all this does is add another story between these 2 men who clearly have a past together. Highlight of the Night and what a way to end the show!
2. Internationals Henchmen. Back at the begining of the year International had 3 goons. England, Japan, and Canada. It would seem that INT hasn't taken to kindly to England stepping out on his own and not only beat him in the ring, but had Canada return to add even more damage outside the ring. I doubt these two have finished their business yet, how will Canada fit into this? And will Japan return aswell?
3. Michelle Rocheforte. This french lass is showing everyone that she has skills to pay the bills and now holds back to back wins over former Vixxen's Champion Raiyven. Granted this week was via countout but they all count. She locked Raiyven in a spinning toe hold and waited to the last possible moment to release the hold and slide in for the victory. Smart move on her part and a dangerous combo to be reckoned with. I'm sure Raiyven isn't impressed!
Not to the Fails!
1. Where was the Crusade? Hood, Ashe, Cass were all absent from this weeks card. Maybe the flu, or they are out fighting crime, but it was sad to see them missing from action. I would like to see Ashe and Cass challenge for the Tag Belts in a rematch from New Years Evil but that's just me.
2. Matthias Marlfox. Now this is a super rarity for Matthias to be in my fails. For the second week in a row Matthias has suffered a loss and this time to Ethan Quinn. It looks like he may not reclaim the BOTN, but perhaps there is more to it then that. In both losses he suffered a serious move that busted him open right before the pin. Perhaps Matthias is suffering from a concussion? Or some kind of head injury. Either way Matthias I know you'll bounce back and hopefully regain the BOTN title.
3. Tag Team Title match. WHY WOULD THEY WANT TO WIN BY COUNTOUT?!?!? This made no sense, the Chi Town Killas won via countout but the English Bulldogs retain the gold. This was a blown oppertunity. Maybe we'll see a rematch at the ppv, who knows.
So onto the Rest of the Action
Mark Covair defeats Sid Reemer in what I would consider and upset. Considering that this would give Covair a shot at the X-Rated title, a belt he doesn't want. Could Mark win a title he doesn't care about? Leave your comments in the section below.
Nikki Mauler beats up Kyra who was looking out for her partner. A brave move and with Ashley trying to win Vixxen Gold Kyra would improve her own stock with a solid feud with Nikki.
Speaking of JYNX and Ashley they had a hard fought match this week which saw the Vixxen's champ get a bit of retribution after the loss last week. This is turning out to be a highly entertaining match up so hopefully we see more from these two ladies.
Well that's it for me this week be sure to tune into this weeks Preshow.
