How many times have your switched your brand loyalty?
I was a Sega kiddie from MegaDrive, through MegaCD, up to and including the MegaDrive32X. Was too poor so couldn't afford anything else till 1999. By then I had seen the Saturn release with hardly any games I wanted, been discontinued early, and the DreamCast wasn't quite taking off or filled with titles I wanted either. The bloom was off the Segaa rose, and I was lured to the PS1 by the likes of Resident Evil 2, RE3 and WCW Mayhem. Stayed with Sony until that ridiculous PS3 launch price. Once again being poor I decided not to take the plunge into the current generation at that price, and I feel I was almost forced to switch to Xbox360. Later when Sony removed PS2 backwards compatibility from PS3 my want for one grew even more.
Got a PC later and decided PC gaming via Steam was where it was at. Then my brother gave me his PS3 Slim which was admittedly largely unused outside of being a BluRay player until PS+ now has me singing Sony's praises once again - whilst still hating the PS3's drawbacks, hoping to Christ that Sony get the PS4 right. So whilst I champion the Windows 8 pro/Surface pro teams, Sony-Steam are my current gaming loyalties, and in retrospect I wish I wasn't as poor so I could have gotten a launch PS3 for its backwards compatibility.
In short: Sega (MegaDrive, MegaCD, 32X) > Sony (PS1,PS2) > Microsoft (360) > Valve (PC gaming) until currently I find myself at: Valve (PC gaming) + Microsoft (Win8/SurfacePro) + Sony (PS3/PS4 console gaming)

Never really switch loyalties per say, however I no longer play 360 like I used to, so in a sense you could say I did when I started using my PS3 and PC more. That's due to my 360 crapping out though, and the fact that I didn't want to spend the money to buy a new one, since I don't have the money to really spend with most my money going to the likes of my daughter, my girlfriend, and my nasty smoking habit lol. If I was a rich guy I'd still play 360 along side my PS3 and PC, since everyone I work with, my brother, and lots of friends play 360.
When I had PS2 and Xbox, I played both equally and made sure to focus my time on both so neither went unplayed. Growing up, I'd just play what my parents got me in terms of system lol. Going forward, I'm not exactly sure which system ill buy, I think it'll be up to whatever system has better release titles for me. I'm hoping to get a new job with my older brother that pays twice what I make now, so ill have the money to not only focus on my family, but to still game as well
